Staying Pure

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9-11

Everywhere we look we find temptation that leads to and causes impure lives. We are constantly surrounded by and drowning in impurity. However, the question is how do we stay pure in such a filthy environment? We cannot do this in our own strength, but we must have the strength that is more forceful than any temptation that can come upon us. James 1:14(amp.) states ”But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions)”

So how then do we stay pure in a filthy environment? Submit to God resist the devil and he will flee from you, notice how you have to submit to God first then resist the devil. For it is not by might, not by power, but by my spirit says the Lord. For the word of God says that “the temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” I Corinthians 10:13. Therefore, if we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Prayer:

Father in the Name of Jesus we do thank you for who you are, you are our strength, out comforter and our guide. You are our rock, and our refuge. You are our Peace that surpasses all understanding. We thank you that you do not put more on us than we can bear and that you gives us a way of escape. We ask you God to empower us that we may be able control our flesh, help us to do what is right in your sight in Jesus name we pray amen.
